Displaying IMG_0122.JPGAll third graders at Carrie Ricker School returned to Smithfield Plantation on Libby Road in Litchfield, on Thursday. Forestry Day, which is a tradition at Carrie Ricker, was met with the warmest temperatures of the season. Third Grade students learned about the History of Litchfield, Solar and Wind Power, Outdoor Survival, Tree Identification and dissecting Owl Pellets.

The Friends of Smithfield Plantation create an enjoyable, hands-on learning opportunity for all of the students. Third graders rotated through the six stations throughout the day, only stopping for lunch at the amphitheater.
